Owner | Master Stylist
I’m Melissa Owner/Operator at Tangles. I can not wait to have you as a guest at my salon! Growing up on Long Island, NY I dreamt of one day working in NYC. I was intrigued by the show Fame, (remember that show with Debbie Allen?) Solid Gold dancers, flashdance, and I was obsessed with the Rockettes.
Well, needless to say Solid Gold went off the air and my dreams were crushed. Fast forward to 1995. After a year of college, prepping for the nursing program, I just knew It wasn’t right for me. I went to a local community school to learn computer and office skills. There was a part of the course that taught how to apply make-up, and do your hair for an interview, and I was like OMG, I can’t wait for that. I think I was annoying the lady interviewing me, because that’s all I cared about. I signed up for Cosmetology school the next day and haven’t looked back. I made the Suntree/Viera area my home in 1997. Not quite NYC, but I have a lot to be thankful for since moving here. So, If you want recommendations on great places to eat, visit, shop, and play I can probably help!
After becoming a mom of twin boys, and a girl, I realized I wanted to own my own salon. Crazy, with 3 kids under 4. After putting in the time, and efforts I knew I’d be able to have some freedom to raise my kids. I’ve built a great clientele, and have learned a lot of life lessons. As sad as it makes me that my boys are adults, and my daughter is in high school it gives me the opportunity to put focus on growing my salon. I enrolled in an academy, and work with a business coach to take not only my business, but the guest experience to the next level. I have to say that I LOVE working on my business. This is my main focus, and I am excited for you to witness the evolving changes happening at Tangles. Nothing makes me happier than spending time with my teenagers. I’m a very proud mom, and they are my life. My hubby is my best friend and I love checking out new restaurants, listening to live music outdoors, and long weekend getaways. Delray, and Savannah are my favorites. I’m excited that I’ve been able to get back to a passion of mine, cooking. I take great pride with being known for making the BEST penne alla vodka. Not only is it my most requested dish by my family, but we won’t even order it at restaurants because it’s just not as good as mine. Truth. Maybe if you are in the salon at one of our many potlucks you can sample a taste. We look for
any excuse to celebrate and have a potluck.
I look forward to meeting you, and am confident you will have a great experience at Tangles. Give Tangles a call to set up an appointment to meet one of the stylists.
